Save Money With a Gas Rebate Credit Card
If you are like most people you are probably not fond of spending a lot of money on gas for
your vehicle. Well there is a way to save money at the pump without having to trade your SUV
for a more fuel efficient car or changing your driving habits. So how can I save money? A credit
card. Yes a credit card can actually save you money on your gas purchases. Gas rebate credit
cards have been around for awhile but they typically required you to purchase gas from a
particular brand (i.e. Exxon, Shell, BP). But now there are many gas rebate credit cards that
will give you cash back when used at any gas station. Gas rebate credit cards give you 3% to
6% cash back on your gas purchases and 1% to 3% cash back on all other purchases. As you
can see this can save you quite a bit of money each year. Here are some tips on selecting a
gas rebate credit card:
Don't Pay an Annual Fee
Luckily most gas rebate credit cards do not come with an annual fee, but always look at the
fine print to make sure it does not have a one. An annual fee could wipe out any benefits you
would earn with a gas credit card so always look for a card that does not have a fee.
Look at the Introductory Offers
Some gas credit cards have introductory offers where you can earn double cash back for a
certain period of time. If the card normally gives you 3% cash back on gas purchases it will
give you 6% cash back during that introductory period. The length of the introductory period
varies between 1 to 12 months depending on the card.
Beware of Restrictions
Choose a gas credit card that will allow you to earn cash back when purchasing any brand of
gas. Some gas credit cards will only give cash back when you purchase a specific brand of
gas. Also, some gas rebate credit cards limit how much cash back you can earn each year
while others allow you to earn unlimited cash back. Take this into account when comparing gas
rebate credit cards.
