Credit Cards That Give Cash Back
by John Ross

The most popular segment of the credit card industry right now is rewards credit
cards. Take a look at all the offers out there and you will see you can earn pretty
much anything just for using your credit card. You can get airline miles, gift cards,
discounts on your next vehicle purchase, and even concert tickets. But one of the
most popular reward programs right now is cash back credit cards. These cards give
you money back just for using your card.

Why Do Card Issuers Offer Cash Back

Credit card companies found out that if you give the consumer cash back they will
use that credit card more. Most consumers who have a rewards credit card use it for
a majority of their purchases and may stop using other credit cards that lack rewards.
By having consumers use their credit card exclusively is a huge benefit for the card
issuer.

Benefits of Cash Back Credit Cards

Obviously the main benefit of a cash back credit card is that you get some money
back for using your card. But another benefit is that there are less restrictions than
other rewards credit cards.  Other rewards credit cards may require that use the
rewards for certain merchandise or gift cards. Cash back cards let you decide what
you want to spend your reward money on.

Tips on Choosing a Cash Back Credit Card

  • Look for cards that don’t have an annual fee. An annual fee may wipe out any
cash back that you might earn with a cash back credit card.

  • Find a card that fits your spending habits. Each card offers cash back at
different rates depending on where you use your card. Some cards will give
you 5% cash back on supermarket purchases and then 1% cash back for all
other purchases. Others may give you 5% back at gas stations. So figure out
what types of establishments (i.e. gas stations, supermarkets, restaurants) you
spend the most money at and choose a card that rewards you the most for
    those purchases.

  • Read the terms and conditions. This is important when applying for any credit
card. Know what interest rates and fees may be involved to help you determine
which card is the better deal.
